Connected criminal-law update · 14 September 2026 — allegation, not a criminal finding. A criminal complaint separate from this civil recovery claim was filed in Valencia on 19 January 2026. The complaint and its 2 February EG 19/2026 expansion allege that an economically unitary financing package — mortgage loan plus linked financial-risk cover — was separated so that the mortgage credit could be assigned independently while the accessory product remained within the banking perimeter. The complainant alleges that this separation distorted the apparent credit position and neutralised patrimonial defences. Fiscalía Valencia opened EG 19/2026 and transferred the complaint territorially to Arrecife; that procedural act is verified but does not establish the truth of the allegation or prosecutorial acceptance of a criminal theory. The expansion asks, among other steps, for CaixaBank's internal documents concerning the segregation decision and independent mortgage-credit assignment.
